Heavy duty manhole covers frequently remain undisturbed for long periods, embedded into their seatings by heavy traffic. Corrosion of the cover and the frame further increases the grip.

Maintenance personnel often encounter problems lifting the covers and frequently have to remove the whole frame and cover by using large hammers and/or pneumatic drills. The total cost of removal and replacement frequently exceeds the cost a Covermate lifter.

The Covermate allows direct vertical pull by a single person operation with up to a 3 tonne Safe Working Load, plus 30% overload.
